Correct perspective, aside from making architecture drawings all neat and orderly, is also great for keeping cohesion when the scene is more chaotic.

In the painting above, a Dutch naval scene based on a real event (see catalog notes in the link), the waves put all the vessels on different planes at different tilts — but correct perspective makes sure that these waves/planes make sense as one body of water, that the tilt of each ship likewise makes sense given the water movement, that the ships' designs are internally consistent, and that the relative sizes of all pieces are accurate.
