6: Hopper and That Twilight Tinge

And to end this week's review plus switch gears into 'genre'/domestic painting, we have Edward Hopper's Gas. While this is once again stretching the 'autumn' theme, on many of the walks I took at the end of summer/transition to fall/early fall, I'd turn a corner and little vignettes in our town would look strikingly like this. There's just something about the coloring and the drama in the lighting that hints at oncoming decay, and while it may not be angling at a seasonal shift it sure feels like one.
