Above is a portrait commission I did a few years ago, working from a candid photo taken at this couple's wedding reception.
This is a small painting clearly geared towards the priorities of this couple as the primary viewers. I'm going to post this one and tomorrow's (a 'kiss' painting designed for a broader audience) with minimal commentary: just look for the cues that let you know what the audience of this work is supposed to be. Why do you or do you not feel invited 'into' this work yourself?
